The word "brain tumor" can bring
pain and despair into one's life.
I should know,
because I've been treated for a benign
meningioma two times in my life! I was born in 1967....so, as
they say, "do the math". The brain MRI picture to your
left.......that was me!
The good news is that a lot of brain
tumors can be treated and your normal life can be restored. That
is why it is vital that we
support brain tumor research so that in the
end, you just say to yourself, "It's Just a Brain Tumor".
I
would like to support the efforts of my neurosurgeon,
Dr. John Ruge.
Dr. Ruge is probably one of the nicest people you will ever
know....and yes, coincidently, he is a very skilled neurosurgeon. He is extremely
knowledgeable and personable, and was recognized by his peers in the
Guide To Top Doctors as one of the top neurosurgeons in the Chicago
area. The great (cool) thing about Dr. Ruge is that he treats both
children and adults!
One way to help support brain tumor
research, is to make a financial donation to the many funds and projects
that are sponsored by the
Midwest Children's
Brain Tumor Center:
|
|
| |
- General:
this fund supports a variety of
activities and programs. It's not
limited to any particular type of
program.
- Research:
this fund supports research
activities/trials.
- Family Fund:
this fund supports any activity
or program specifically for families ie;
support groups, family outings, meal
passes/parking, housing during
hospitalization, educational activities
for patients and their families, etc.
- Peds N Weeds:
this fund supports the annual
oncology/children's brain tumor center
picnic for patients and families. It
gives patients and families a day away
from the hospital to have fun, dunk
their docs on the dunk tank and forget
about their illness. Food, carnival
games, dunk tank, dj and much more are
provided free of charge. The picnic
hosts 700 people each year!
