Sure, we use the money we earn from
designing websites to pay our mortgage, pay our property taxes, reinvest in
the business, maybe a High Definition TV? (wishful, but doughtful).......but.........we strongly believe
that each time we are blessed to earn some money, we should "give back" to
those in need.
We are planning a program in which we
"give back" (financially or volunteer) to local organizations that can better help people and the
environment.
The organizations that we support have meaning to
our "life experiences" and are local, local, and yes, local. We feel
giving locally, one can hopefully see the impact right before you.
This is done in hopes that others will see the impact and support the
organizations.
In addition, we feel that it is very important to
select organizations/causes that have a very low administration component to
them. This ensures that most of the financial support that is given
goes straight to "the cause" as opposed to supporting a non-for-profit CEO's
"exotic lifestyle".
Remember, every penny and every minute can
make a person's life better and our planet a better place to live.
T he word "brain tumor" can bring pain and despair into one's life.
I should know, because I've been treated for a benign meningioma two times in my life! I was born in 1967....so, as they say, "do the math".
Do you see the brain MRI picture?......that was me!
The good news is that a lot of brain tumors can be treated and your normal life can be restored. That is why it is vital that we support brain tumor research so that in the end, you just say to yourself, "It's Just a Brain Tumor".
I would like to support the efforts of my neurosurgeon, Dr. John Ruge.
Dr. Ruge is probably one of the nicest people you will ever know....and yes, coincidently, he is a very skilled neurosurgeon. He is extremely knowledgeable and personable, and was recognized by his peers in the Guide To Top Doctors as one of the top neurosurgeons in the Chicago area. The great (cool) thing about Dr. Ruge is that he treats both children and adults!
One way to help support brain tumor
research, is to make a financial donation to the many funds and projects
that are sponsored by the
Midwest Children's
Brain Tumor Center.
- General:
this fund supports a variety of
activities and programs. It's not
limited to any particular type of
program.
- Research:
this fund supports research
activities/trials.
- Family Fund:
this fund supports any activity
or program specifically for families ie;
support groups, family outings, meal
passes/parking, housing during
hospitalization, educational activities
for patients and their families, etc.
- Peds N Weeds:
this fund supports the annual
oncology/children's brain tumor center
picnic for patients and families. It
gives patients and families a day away
from the hospital to have fun, dunk
their docs on the dunk tank and forget
about their illness. Food, carnival
games, dunk tank, dj and much more are
provided free of charge. The picnic
hosts 700 people each year!

In 2009,
our Principal, Mark Walther, was
asked by his neurosurgeon, Dr. John
Ruge, to be a part of the Advisory
Board for the Midwest Children's
Brain Tumor Center.
A project that came up was that of a
book written by Andrew Skoda.
Andrew was a patient of Dr. Ruge's
who, with his aunt, wrote a
children's book called The Little
Prince who a Village to Sing.
As a result, we offered to design
and host a website that would help
promote and sell the book online.
Since 2003,
Principal, Mark Walther, has been the
volunteer webmaster.
This is
truly an honor and a joy...all at the
same time.
In the future, we
will list programs and donations made to
Redeemer.
